Books on Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine
Acupuncture and You, Louis Moss. Written by an MD, could be out of print.
Acupuncture: The Ancient Chinese Art of Healing and How it Works Scientifically, Felix Mann. Another MD written book, could also be out of print.
Between Heaven and Earth: A Guide to Chinese Medicine, Harriet Beinfield and Efren Korngold. A five element perspective on Chinese Medicine, well written.
Dragon Rises, Red Bird Flies: Psychology, Energy and Chinese Medicine, Leon Hammer. Hard and dense, but interesting reading.
Four Paws Five Directions: A Guide to Chinese Medicine for Cats and Dogs, Cheryl Schwartz. Easy to read and use book.
Healing with Whole Foods: Oriental Traditions and Modern Nutrition, Paul Pitchford. Great book, easy to use.
Shang Han Lun: Wellspring of Chinese Medicine, Edited by Hong-yen Hsu & William Peacher. Classic, written about 1900 years ago.
The Acupuncture Response: Balance Energy and Restore Health-a Western Doctor Tells You How, Glenn Rothfeld, M.D., M.Ac. and Suzanne Levert.
The Chinese Way to Healing: Many Paths to Wholeness, Misha Cohen with Kalia Doner. User friendly, good source for self treatment.
The Complete Illustrated Guide to Chinese Medicine, Tom Williams. Easy to read, yet not condescending.
The Web That Has No Weaver: Understanding Chinese Medicine, 2nd edition, March 2000, Ted Kaptchuk. The revised edition of the first western book on Chinese medicine.
The Western Guide to Feng Shui: Creating Balance, Harmony and Prosperity in Your Environment, Terah Kathryn Collins. The best book Iıve found for westerners on this esoteric subject.
The Yellow Emperorıs Classic of Medicine, Translated by Maoshing Ni. Another classic, written over 2000 years ago.
Voices of Qi-An Introductory Guide to Traditional Chinese Medicine, Alex Holland and Linda Stone. I donıt have this one, but itıs gotten great reviews on Amazon.
Who Can Ride the Dragon? An Exporation of the Cultural Roots of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Zhang Yu Huan & Ken Rose. A good, but dense book.
Relax and Renew, Judith Lasater, Ph.d., P.T. Iıve been recommending this book to almost all my patients. The book is on restorative yoga. These are poses primarily done on the floor with pillows and blankets to support the body. They are easy to do and are geared to helping you unwind.
Yoga Secrets for Business Success, Darshan Singh Khalsa. This is a great handbook on yoga poses and breathing techniques. There are chapters on relaxation, anger and self-worth, among others.
